Activated carbon

Our Technology

Atlas' activated carbon has been proven to produce carbon/ carbon supercapacitors with the highest energy density ever produced.

Our process was painstakingly developed over years in collaboration with the University of British Columbia.

Thermal Coal/ Petroleum Coke

Atlas Power Technologies built our vision on the premise that in order to create a sustainable renewable future, our society needs to harness the existing material and mineral supply chains that we already have established.

Atlas then developed this vision by working with our partners at the University of British Columbia to create a process to utilize thermal coal or petroleum coke for the production of high grade activate carbon used in our cells. These are the most mined and processed materials on Earth.

Activated Carbon Production - Nisku, Alberta

We are proud to be ready to start the construction phase for our activated carbon production at our Nisku, Alberta facility. This facility will be the first commercial scale facility capable of producing electrode-grade activated carbon in North America, and will utilize process developed in British Columbia, Canada in partnership with the University of British Columbia.
